1. Summary
IQ Pins is a content marketing and creative workflow application for Pinterest Business users. The product is designed to help businesses convert user-owned products, articles, website pages, CSV files and RSS feeds into original Pin drafts.
The core user value is faster production of Pinterest-ready creative assets while keeping users in control through review, approval and selected publishing.
2. User workflow
- The user creates an IQ Pins account.
- The user adds business-owned content sources such as URLs, product data, RSS feeds or CSV files.
- The user connects a Pinterest Business account through OAuth.
- IQ Pins reads permitted Pinterest information such as boards and account context.
- IQ Pins creates original Pin drafts from the user’s own content sources.
- The user reviews each Pin draft, including title, description, destination URL, image and board selection.
- The user approves selected Pins and chooses the publishing/scheduling action.
- IQ Pins publishes approved Pins through permitted Pinterest API access.
- IQ Pins retrieves analytics where permitted and displays performance inside the user dashboard.
3. Planned Pinterest API scopes
For the MVP, IQ Pins expects to request only the scopes required to provide the described workflow. Planned scopes may include:
user_accounts:read— to identify the connected Pinterest Business account and display connection status.boards:read— to retrieve boards so users can select appropriate destinations for approved Pins.boards:write— to allow users to create or update boards when explicitly requested.pins:read— to display and manage Pin status where required by the product workflow.pins:write— to publish Pins selected and approved by the user.analytics:read— to retrieve performance metrics for reporting, such as impressions, saves, clicks and outbound clicks where available.
Future features such as shopping catalog support or ads management would require separate review and additional permissions before use.
4. Pinterest data use
IQ Pins uses Pinterest API data only to provide user-facing product features, including account connection, board selection, publishing of approved Pins and analytics reporting.
IQ Pins does not sell Pinterest API data. IQ Pins does not use Pinterest API access to create fake engagement, perform hidden actions, scrape unrelated Pinterest content or act without user authorization.
5. Security and OAuth handling
- Users authorize access through OAuth.
- IQ Pins never asks for Pinterest passwords.
- OAuth tokens are intended to be stored securely server-side.
- Users can disconnect Pinterest access from IQ Pins account settings or revoke access through Pinterest controls where available.
- API errors, token refresh events and publishing actions are logged for security and support purposes.
6. User control and compliance controls
IQ Pins is designed as a review-first workflow. Generated content is treated as draft content until the user reviews and approves it.
- Users review every Pin draft before publishing.
- Users can edit, reject or approve drafts.
- Users choose or confirm the board and destination URL.
- Publishing actions are visible in the dashboard.
- IQ Pins uses user-provided original business materials as the source for content generation.
7. Demo flow for Pinterest review
A demo video for Standard Access review should show:
- Creating or logging into an IQ Pins test account.
- Starting Pinterest OAuth connection.
- Completing OAuth and returning to IQ Pins.
- Importing a sample product URL or article URL.
- Generating Pin drafts.
- Reviewing a draft and approving one selected Pin.
- Scheduling or publishing the approved Pin.
